Sleepy Fox Distillery is Now Dog Friendly!

Early in the summer, Dan and I took a trip to central Virginia where we sampled, among other things, some moonshine from Sleepy Fox Distillery. Located in Ashland, Virginia, Sleepy Fox was my first experience with moonshine — and a great experience it was, too!

Our friend works at Sleepy Fox, so when we were recently in central Virginia, we decided to stop by and say hello. We had the dogs with us, but the weather was cool, so they could stay in the car. Much to our delight, as we pulled into the parking in front of the distillery (conveniently adjacent to Layne’s Country Store And Amish Kettle), we saw a sign on the front window that proclaimed that well-behaved dogs are welcome inside!

We brought our (fairly) well behaved dogs into the distillery and were excited to find out that they were the first dogs to visit the distillery! The dogs were rewarded with some turkey from the deli counter in Layne’s. The owner of both Layne’s and Sleepy Fox also rescues and fosters dogs.

Fall Drink Specials

While we were there, we sampled a couple of their fall drink specials. Dan tried the Cinnamon Roll (made from Sleepy Fox’s bourbon, cinnamon moonshine, brown sugar, and cinnamon syrup). I tried the Gimme S’more (bourbon, toasted marshmallow syrup, and chocolate drizzle).

Sleepy Fox Distillery has a variety of moonshine: two clears at 90 and 150 proof, Apple Pie, Cherry, Peach, and Cinnamon. They also have a bourbon, a maple whiskey, and a vodka. All of their spirits are quite delicious.

If you find yourself in Ashland, be sure to stop by Sleepy Fox Distillery. You can do tastings of all of their spirits or order special mixed drinks. Now that we know they are dog friendly, we’ll definitely go back again soon!
